Classical Newborn Care

Hello Parents!

My name is Allison  and I am

The Classical Baby Nurse!

What is “Classical”?

A Classic is something that has stood the test of time; a piece of music or a book that has been loved by more than one generation.

So Webster's Dictionary tells us that Classical” means:

". . . an emphasis on balance, clarity, and moderation"

         "authoritative"

"concerned with . . . the humanities, the fine arts, and the broader aspects of science"

But I think a classical musician has the best description:

“I’ve learned what ‘classical’ means. It means something that sings and dances through sheer joy of existence.”

― Gustav Holst

And what is a "Baby Nurse"?

Baby Nurse” is a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) who cares for newborns in their own homes.

But sadly, the term has been misused -- many so-called "baby nurses" have NO nursing training or credentials.

I'm a real nurse!

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin many years ago, and I maintain a current active Registered Nurse license in two states: New York and Virginia. My Virginia license also gives me authority to practice in many other states through the Multi-State Nursing Compact. My license requires me to take regular continuing education courses in nursing. #RealRN

I combine solid credentials with extensive experience:

I have cared for more than 50 newborns in         their own homes.

I have also cared for many older infants and toddlers!

While I stay current with the latest trends in newborn care, my Extensive Experience gives me a Balanced Perspective.

What is a "Balanced Perspective"?

A balanced perspective means that I am committed both to knowing the most current national and international recommendations for the care of infants and children, and to supporting and assisting families in finding the strategies and adaptations that are optimal for each individual child and family, in close coordination with the healthcare providers that the family has chosen.

So I am committed to evidence-based practices

And I am equally committed to supporting YOU as parents in finding the strategies that work best for your unique family.

A recent family said it best:

"From the start she exemplified professionalism. She wanted to know how we would like to parent, and worked toward that goal, while also offering much needed and requested advice and suggestions along the way."   Andrew and Madalyn

What Services Do I Provide?

I provide overnight and daytime care, with a normal minimum of five 9-hour shifts per week.

When living out I can do 9, 10, or (occasionally) 11-hour shifts 5 days or nights per week.

When living in your home I can do much longer shifts (up to 18 hours)!

Are you looking for newborn care that can be available on a 24-hour basis, 7 days a week ("24-hour care”)? Let’s chat about setting up a team!

"Allison’s gentle and calm demeanor brought joy to our family. My husband and I started counting down to “Allison time” early in the evening, and her arrival each night was greeted by smiles on our kids’  faces and enthusiastic tail wags from our dog. The kids responded quite positively to the nighttime routines she tailored to their individual needs. In short, her tenderness and devotion made a world of difference in creating comforting and quality early life experiences for both of our children."  Rebecca and Brian
